The Bainbridge High School Lady Cats’ soccer team dropped a heartbreaking 1-0 game to the Worth County High School Lady Rams on Saturday in Sylvester, Ga.

The winning goal came in the 74th minute when the Lady Rams took a corner kick from the left side and sent a lofted ball to the center of the goal.

Bainbridge goal keeper Brianna Williams just missed getting her hands on the ball when it was headed toward the goal. Senior defender Tiffany Hand deflected the ball out, but unfortunately it went to an onrushing Lady Ram who knocked it in the net.

Lady Cats coach Chip Ariail was pleased with his team’s effort against the Lady Rams.

“We played a lot better at midfield and the defensive end, despite the mishaps late in the contest,” he said. “We made several attacks and possessed the ball on their end throughout, but Worth County was just able to recover in time to save our shots.”

The Lady Cats and coach Jamie Ard’s Beacats will play the Albany High School Lady Indians and Indians on Tuesday, March 6, at Centennial Field.

The girls’ game will begin at 5:30 p.m. and the boys’ game will start at 7:30 p.m.
