The final first-half goal was scored by a Lady Trojans forward, who got behind the Lady Cats’ defense and scored from 10 yards out on the right side in the 32nd minute.

The Lady Trojans opened the second-half scoring and extended their lead to 4-0 in the 42nd minute on a follow-up shot from 8 yards out on the right side. They then added five more goals down the stretch to put the game away.

Lady Cats coach Chip Ariail said he thought the Lady Trojans experience was the difference in the game.

“Lee County is a very good squad with players with quite a bit of experience, but despite that we battled throughout the first half,” he said.

Ariail said he thought his team may have lost focus at times in the second half and went away from the things they fundamentally needed to do.

“I thought senior forward April Thomas, following a successful basketball season, did well in her first game. She hustled all over the field,” Ariail said.
