Pull out your diamonds and dust off your boots. Plans have been finalized for the first annual “Denim and Diamonds Gala,” benefitting the Bainbridge Decatur County YMCA.

The event, which will be held on August 22, will be hosted by Southwind Plantation, and the evening is being sponsored by Southwind Pest and Termite.

The Gala will feature a cocktail hour, followed by a plated BBQ dinner. Arrive early enough to have a personal portrait taken by Joy Key Photography and browse the silent auction items being offered throughout the evening. Silent auction items include autographed memorabilia, sporting event tickets, golf outings, evenings on the town, a gun, getaways and much more.

Also offered is the chance to win a diamond, courtesy of Godwin Jewelers. Upon entry to the gala, those who wish to participate can purchase a signature event wine glass for $25. Each wine glass will contain a stone, and only one stone will be an actual diamond. Stones can be taken to Godwin Jewelers to determine who has the diamond.

Following dinner, there will be live musical entertainment, offered by the Michael Miller Band from Tallahassee, Fla. Winners of the auctions will be announced from the stage.

Individual non-reserved tickets are $50 each and reserved tables can be purchased for $400. Tickets are available from any Y board or staff member.

Those not wishing to drive to Southwind Plantation can opt to ride the YMCA shuttle. The shuttles will depart from the Y parking lot at 6:15 p.m., 6:20 p.m. and 6:45 p.m. Shuttles will make return trips at the conclusion of the night. The cost for the shuttle is $5 per person.

All proceeds from the evening will go toward the YMCA annual campaign, which benefits the 900 member families the organization serves, and the hundreds of additional families who participate in the YMCA’s sports and school-age programs. No one is ever turned away from the Y due to an inability to pay.
