The City of Bainbridge and Bainbridge Leisure Services is excited to bring to you the city’s first 5K run.

The Bainbridge Spring 5K run will be happening Saturday, June 8, at 8 a.m. This is the first of what is to be an annual event. Preregistration is going on now. You can come by Leisure Services and fill out your form, or to make it easier, you can visit www.bainbridgecity.com and download a form directly to your computer. Preregistration, which guarantees you a T-shirt, is $15 from now through June 7. The fee increases to $20 on the day of the run.

There will be first, second, and third-place medals awarded for each age group, male and female, and overall male and female finishers. The run will start you from our beautiful mega ramps, through our gorgeous nature trail, past the new resurfaced Bill Reynolds Tennis Center, and through the Bill Reynolds Sports Complex. This course is walker-friendly too. You do not have to be a seasoned runner to participate in a 5K, you just have to have the desire to do something fun and good for your health. The Bainbridge Aquatic Center is now open daily for the summer, from 1 p.m. till 6 p.m., with extended hours on Thursdays until 9 p.m. Regular admission is $2 for ages 5 and under, $4 for ages 6 to 49, and $2 for ages 50 and older. Season passes are also available for individuals, as well as for families.

There are exciting things happening at the Aquatic Center this summer, including three sessions of swimming lessons. Family Nights Aquata-wata games will also be starting soon on Thursday nights! This will be a family-type competition where points will be accrued over a two month period and the family with the highest points wins an amazing prize from the city and Bainbridge Leisure Services.

Registration is going on now for the cheerleading clinic. If you have a future cheerleader in your midst, come sign her up for the summer cheerleading clinic. This is for ages pre-K to fifth grade. The Bainbridge High School cheerleaders will be leading this fun event. This cost is $40 and the clinic will run from Tuesday, July 16, thru Thursday, July 18. They will meet at Bainbridge Memorial Coliseum at 9 a.m. till noon. T-shirts and bow will be available for sale during the clinic for $20.
