The Bainbridge High School Lady Cats basketball season came to an end Tuesday night, in Leesburg, Ga., when they dropped a 54-41 Region 1-AAAAA Tournament play-in game to the Lee County High School Lady Trojans.
The Lady Trojans advanced to the Region 1-AAAAA Tournament which began Friday, and will conclude today at the BHS gym.
The Lady Cats finished the season 7-18 overall and 3-9 in region play.
Leading the way for the Lady Cats on Tuesday night were sophomore point guard Beonka Madge with 14 points, and sophomore shooting guard Alex Carter with 12.
Rounding out their scoring column were sophomore small forward Tameria Levens with eight points, junior shooting guard Teena Jeffery with five and sophomore center Patra Parris with two.
Lee County’s Katherine McConnell took game-scoring honors, with 18 points. Briana Scott was also in double figures with 13.
Bainbridge coach Kelvin Cochran said he thought his team did some good things in their final game of the season Tuesday night.
“We kept the game close most of the way last night,” he said. “We trailed 24-17 at halftime and cut the advantage to just seven points in the fourth quarter.
“We will virtually have our whole team back next season. Our only senior was strong forward Carenshia Kennedy. She did not play extensively, but when she got in she always gave a good effort. She also gave the other players great support.”
