Pssst … Have you heard?
Hurry up, come on, get a move on, there’s no time to lose, get your skates on, what are you waiting for, there’s no time to wait, snap to it, jump to it, chop-chop … the phrases are limitless, but the one meaning is clear! This is the final week to register for the 2013 baseball and softball season.
Make your way down to the Leisure Services office this week to register your child. If they have never played before, you will need to bring a copy of their birth certificate. The cost is only $20 per child and not to exceed $50 per household.
The benefits of youth participation in sports are vast! Not only do kids get to take part in an activity they enjoy, they also get to interact with children their age and lay the ground work for positive health habits as they mature into adulthood. It positively affects their health, their behavior, their discipline and their teamwork skills.
For this week only, Leisure Services’ hours will be Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. (closed for lunch from noon to 12:30 p.m.). After Friday, Feb. 1, a waiting list will be started. So don’t be late and don’t be put on the wait list.
We still need coaches! Don’t forget, if you chose to be a head coach, your child will play free.
As we enter week three of Leisure Services’ boot camp, the “troops” have progressed and gotten stronger, lighter, fitter and faster. When asked how their personal progress was going, most replied with a loss of anywhere between four to 10 pounds.
Those who have not lost weight noticed a change in how their clothes fit and overall feeling of better energy and endurance! This is not basic training. This is boot camp and we train like a pit bull on Starbucks! The next session will be beginning soon.
And don’t forget to keep watching for other new adult programs that will be starting.
