BMS 8th-grade teams win 2 of 4

The Bainbridge Middle School eighth-grade Bearcats and Lady Cats basketball teams won two of four games last week, at the Decatur County Memorial Coliseum.
On Monday, the Bearcats downed the Thomas County Middle School eighth-grade Yellow Jackets, 56-50, and the Lady Cats lost 35-11 to the eighth-grade Lady Yellow Jackets.
On Wednesday, the Bearcats beat Cairo’s Washington Middle School’s eighth-grade Tigers, 47-44, and the Lady Cats lost to the Lady Tigers, 40-23.
In Monday’s win over the Yellow Jackets, the Bearcats were led by forward Dalvin Spivie with a game-high 20 points. Guard Milton Gayle was also in double figures with 12.
Gayle led the Bearcats with a game-high 13 points in the win over WMS. Tyler Jackson added 11 points.
The Lady Cats’ top scorer in their Monday loss to the Lady Yellow Jackets was Kierra King, with four points. Rounding out the Lady Cats’ scoring column was Tyra Smart with three and Jasmine Rainey and Victoria Sprenkle with two apiece.
Wednesday, against the Lady Tigers, the Lady Cats were led by Chelsea Hall’s six points.
