The Bainbridge Middle School eighth-grade Lady Cats and Bearcats basketball teams dropped three of four road games this week.
On Thursday, in Cairo, the Lady Cats edged the Washington Middle School eighth-grade Lady Tigers by a score of 28-26.
Tyra Smart and Kierra King each scored 11 points to lead the Lady Cats to the win.
In the boys game, the Bearcats fell by a 60-54 score. Milton Gayle led BMS with 16 points.
“We did an excellent job of executing our game plan in Cairo, but Washington just had too much height down low,” BMS boys coach Heith Maxwell said. “They had three players who were six feet, five inches.”
On Tuesday, the Lady Cats fell to the Thomas County Middle School eighth-grade Lady Yellow Jackets, 43-17. The Bearcats dropped a close 43-41 game to the Yellow Jackets.
In Tuesday’s loss, the Lady Cats were led by Smart, who had eight points. King added three and Chelsea Hall, Victoria Sprenkle and Mary Reynolds all added two points.
In the Bearcats’ loss to TCMS, Tyler Jackson led the Bearcats with a game-high 15 points. Gayle added 10.
