Grace teams split games

The Grace Christian Academy Lady Cougars and Cougars split two Tuesday basketball games with the Emmanuel Christian School Lady Warriors and Warriors, in Dothan, Ala.

The Lady Cougars improved their season record to 10-4, after a 55-30 victory. The Cougars, who are 8-6, lost 73-64 to the Warriors.

The Lady Cougars went on a 19-0 second-quarter scoring run to build a 28-13 halftime lead. Grace’s Kelsey Harrell had a career-high 19 points to take game scoring honors. Emilee Murr added 15 and Shellby Woodrum put in nine.

Rounding out the Lady Cougars’ scoring column were Jasmine Kelly with eight and  Kaitlyn Holcombe with four.

Casey Clements led the Lady Warriors, with 16 points.

The Warriors’ win was their fifth in a row, following their 79-69 overtime loss to the Cougars on Monday, Dec. 10, in Bainbridge.

The Cougars, who trailed 38-30 at halftime, were led by Jack McRae and Phillip Bowen, with 23 points apiece. Brent Noble was also in double figures, with 10 points.

Bryce McQuaid scored six points, and his younger brother Austin McQuaid scored two.
