DONALSONVILLE, Ga., and COLQUITT, Ga. — The Bainbridge High School Bearcats basketball team swept a pair of road victories over the weekend, defeating the Seminole High School Indians, 70-55, Friday night in Donalsonville, and edging the Miller County High School Pirates, 54-51, Saturday night in Colquitt.
The wins improved the Bearcats’ season record to 7-3.
Leading the way for the Bearcats on Friday night was Dontavious Marshall, with a game-high 27 points. Also in double figures for the Bearcats were Tyree Crump with 15 points, and Jamez Harris with 10.
Crump pumped in a game-high 25 points to lead three double-figure scorers in the Bearcats’ Saturday night win. Justin Baker added 12 and Harris scored 10.
Some clutch shooting down the stretch by Crump sealed the victory.
The Pirates were leading 44-43, when Crump hit a three-pointer from the right side to put the Bearcats ahead, 46-44.
After Miller County’s Antarius Bender ht a layup to tie the score 46-46, Crump hit another three-pointer to retake the lead at 49-46. The Bearcats did not trail again the rest of the way.
“We hustled and played hard against Seminole County and Miller County,” Bainbridge coach Rickey McCullough said. “We made some big shots in key situations in both games.”
