North Georgia All-Stars win, 14-7

The North Georgia Senior All-Stars downed the South Georgia Senior All-Stars, 14-7, on Saturday, Dec. 29, in the annual Georgia Athletic Coaches Association (GACA) Senior All-Star Football Game, in Columbus, Ga.

Quarterback A.J. Erderly of West Forsyth threw a 41-yard touchdown pass to running back Brendan Douglas of Aquinas, with just 1:20 remaining in the game Saturday, breaking a 7-7 tie.

The North Georgia All-Stars scored first, taking a 7-0 lead when cornerback Shon Akins of Norcross intercepted a pass on the game’s first drive and returned it 73 yards for a touchdown.

The South Georgia All-Stars pulled even at 7-7, when Undre Williams of Jones County ran 22 yards for a touchdown with just 22 seconds left in the first quarter.

The South Georgia defense included two Bainbridge Bearcats — first-team All-Region 1-AAAAA linebacker Jamez Harris and first-team All-Region 1-AAAAA defensive end Darryl McGee.

During the Bearcats season, Harris had 97 tackles — 62 solo and 35 assisted — eight tackles for a loss and one forced fumble. McGee had 70 tackles — 44 solo and 26 assisted — and 10 tackles for a loss.
