Georgia Farm Bureau announces 2013 agriculture scholarship program

Georgia Farm Bureau (GFB) is pleased to announce the 2013 agriculture scholarship program, according to a GFB press release.

Scholarships will be awarded to the top 10 students who confirm they are majoring in agriculture or a related field who meet all of the qualifications. The top three students will each receive a $3,000 scholarship. The remaining seven students will each receive a $750 scholarship.

The agriculture scholarship is available to all high school students who will be graduating in 2013 and beginning college that same year. The completed application must be returned to the Georgia Farm Bureau Field Services Department no later than Friday, Feb. 22, 2013.

Applications may be obtained from the Decatur County Farm Bureau office (501 S. Scott St., or 229-246-1692) or from the web site at www.gfb.org. Completed applications must be signed by the county Farm Bureau president in the county in which the student is attending high school or in which they reside.

The winners will be announced in May 2013. The scholarship checks will be distributed in the summer of 2013 upon confirmation by the student of their college/university and major area of study as listed in the criteria.
