Cross-country teams finish strong at state

The Region 1-AAAAA champion Bainbridge High School Bearcats and third-place-finishing Lady Cats turned in some strong times at Saturday’s State Class AAAAA Cross Country Meet, in Carrollton, Ga.
Bainbridge’s Chase Harris, who was second at the region meet, finished 13th in a 223-runner boys state field, in a time of 17:23.36. Harris’s teammate Jovonte Ross, who was sixth at the region meet, was 65th at the state meet, in a time of 18:35.15.
Bearcats and Lady Cats head cross-country coach Lisa Enfinger praised her runners for their performances at the state meet.
“Our runners represented us well at state,” she said. “They have developed into a very strong team this season, and I am very proud of their accomplishments.”
Other finishers for the Bainbridge boys included Brad Cox, with a time of 19:12.00; Bennett Enfinger, with a time of 19:34.36; Brandon Greene, with a time of 20:02.08; Perry Waddell, with a time of 20:52.50; and Hunter Savage, with a time of 21:29.09.
Amber Braswell, who was fourth at the region meet, took 125th in the 223-runner state meet girls field, with a time of 23:30.71. Her sister Paige Braswell, who was second at the region meet, was 130th, with a time of 23:35.20.
Rebecca Conner finished with a time of 26:19.28, and Caitlin Cato finished with a time of 26:32.46.
