Cato, Barber first-team All-Region

Senior third baseman Caitlin Cato and junior outfielder Anna Barber of coach Eugene Singletary’s Bainbridge High School Lady Cats softball team have been named to the All-Region 1-AAAAA first team.
Making the All-Region second team were sophomore pitcher Brooke Bates, junior shortstop Laura Griner and junior catcher Lindsey Griner.
Singletary and the other region head coaches selected the team at a Thursday meeting, in Albany, Ga.
The region player of the year is senior Teale Moran of Harris County, the pitcher of the year is Erika Greek of Thomas County Central and the coach of the year is Robyn Trammell of Thomas County Central.
Cato batted .301, collected 22 hits and scored 33 runs. Barber batted .413, collected 26 hits and scored 22 runs.
Bates, the Lady Cats’ No. 1 starting pitcher, had a .254 batting average, collected 17 hits and scored 13 runs.
Laura Griner batted .280, collected 21 hits and scored 25 runs. Lindsey Griner batted .211, collected 12 hits and scored 12 runs.
