SGA beats Brookwood, 17-7, in homecoming matchup

Southwest Georgia Academy’s Warriors topped the visiting team from Brookwood, 17-7, during homecoming last Friday in Damascus, Ga.

Brookwood scored first before SGA responded with 17 unanswered points. Will Warren’s touchdown tied the game, and kicker Alex Chambless added a field goal late in the first half to put SGA up 10-7.

Running back Teel Massey started the second half off with a touchdown run, closing out the scoring.

SGA had 220 total yards and two touchdowns, with 182 rushing yards and 38 passing yards. Warren led the team with 83 yards on 18 rushing attempts. Brookwood had 217 total yards, with 64 passing yards and 153 rushing yards.

Leading the defense for SGA was junior linebacker Garrett Vann with six solo tackles, five assisted tackles, one sack, and a forced fumble. Junior defensive end Davis Ponder had six solo tackles and two assisted tackles.
