Chase Harris leads Bainbridge in Albany

The Bainbridge High School Bearcats’ Chase Harris was the top area school boys finisher in Saturday’s 31st annual Westover High School Patriots and Lady Patriots Invitational Cross Country Meet at Albany’s Robert Cross Middle School.

Harris finished eighth overall, completing the 5,000-meter (3.1-mile) course in a time of 16 minutes, 8.06 seconds. The top Lady Cats finisher was Paige Braswell, who was 22nd, with a time of 20:28.33.

Bearcats finishing behind Harris in the boys field included Bennett Enfinger, who was 74th in a time of 17:57.12; Jevante Ross, who was 104th in a time of 18:20.71; Brendan Greene, who was 129th in a time of 18:49.04; and Perry Waddell, who was 184th in a time of 19:39.97.

Other area schools participating in the meet with Bainbridge and host Westover were Albany, Monroe of Albany, Worth County, Baconton Charter, Americus-Sumter County and Lee County.

Smiths Station (Ala.) won the boys portion of the meet, with a total time of 1:22:13. Daniel Broadhead of Wayne County won the individual boys championship, with a time of 15:19.

Lowndes County’s Megan Charbeneau finished first place overall in the girls portion of the meet, with a time of 18:36 and she and her teammates were the first overall girls team.
