Tennis teams win and advance

Teams that won championships at the  Saturday, Aug. 25, first annual Combo Tennis Tournament at Bill Reynolds Tennis Center earned the right to advance to the Southern Combo Tournament in November, in Peachtree City, Ga., and Dalton, Ga.

Approximately 90 players, with ratings of 7.5 and 6.5 competed.

Both local and out-of-town teams competed. Bainbridge tennis professional Elyse Fenton played on the Double Trouble team that advanced to the state tournament while winning at the 7.5 level.

The 7.5 winning men’s team was named the Walking Dead. Team members were Ken Phillips, Jay Moss, Andy Fournier, Michael Johns, Michael Brennan, Dustin Woodham and Joe Alday.

The 6.5 winning men’s team was named Deneute-Tally.  Team members were Bill Deneute, Brandon Mauer, David Tourbert, Robert Rudder, Mike Banyas and Bret Bacot.

The 7.5 winning women’s team was named Double Trouble. Team members were Gina Herring, Candy Beauvais, Natasha Phillips, Stephanie McGarvey, Bunny Odom, Elyse Fenton, Shannon Wagner, Annie Wang and Cathy Kendall.

The 6.5 winning women’s team was also named Double Trouble. Team members were Jennifer Dooley, Julie Zins, Joan Merschman, Bobbie Rushing, Karen de Cardmas and Jennifer Kjellerup.
