JV Lady Cats beat Central, improve record to 1-1

Coach Amy Thomas’s Bainbridge High School Lady Cats junior-varsity softball team blanked the Thomas County Central High School junior-varsity Lady Yellow Jackets 5-0, in Bainbridge on Tuesday.

The win evened the junior-varsity Lady Cats’ season record at 1-1.

They took a 1-0 lead in the first inning when Zaikia Calloway drew a walk, stole second, moved to third on a fielder’s choice, and came home on a wild pitch.

The Lady Cats added single runs in the second and third innings to go up 3-0. Grace McIntosh scored the third-inning run after banging out a double.

They added a run in the fifth when Jordan Graham walked, stole a base and came in on a wild pitch.

Today, the junior-varsity Lady Cats are scheduled to travel to Leesburg to compete in the Lee County High School junior-varsity Lady Trojans Invitational Tournament.

They will return home Monday, Aug. 20, for a 4 p.m. game against the Brooks County High School junior-varsity Lady Trojans.

The junior-varsity Lady Yellow Jackets’ biggest threat Tuesday came in the top of the fifth inning, when they moved a runner to second base on an error and a fielder’s choice, before she was stranded.
