Lady Cats down Cairo, 7-2

The Bainbridge High School Lady Cats softball team opened their regular season Monday, with a 7-2 road victory over the Cairo High School Syrupmaids.
The Syrupmaids took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the second inning, but the Lady Cats came right back with four in the top of the third.
Second baseman Caitlin Cato reached on an error to open the inning, and moved up to second when centerfielder Anna Barber singled.
The runners moved up to second and third on a wild pitch. With one away, shortstop Maegan Harrison walked to load the bases.
Left fielder Megan Vaughn followed with a single, driving in Cato and Barber. Harrison later scored on a fielder’ s choice. The inning’s final run was scored by right fielder Alisha Peterson, who singled.
The Lady Cats concluded their scoring with a run in the sixth and two in the seventh. First baseman LaShea Williams singled and scored in the sixth. Vaughn, who was hit by a pitch, and catcher Lindsey Griner, who walked, scored in the seventh.
