The Bainbridge High School Bearcats will host DeKalb County’s Chamblee High School Bulldogs, in a preseason football scrimmage Friday at 7:30 p.m. at Centennial Field.

Admission will be $5 for all spectators.

Bainbridge head coach Ed Pilcher said Chamblee runs the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets’ triple option offense.

“Our defense will have to be ready to contain all three options,” Pilcher said. “Their quarterback, who is a very good runner, might keep the ball, pitch out to a running back or drop back to throw.

“Their offense is similar to our split-back veer, but they sometimes line up a little tighter.”

Running the Bulldogs’ offense will be returning senior quarterback Jordan Branch. Operating behind him will be Brandon Webster and Tomas Harris, a pair of veteran senior running backs.

Defensively, the Bulldogs return Austin Childs and Trevonte Byrd, two hard rushing defensive ends.

“Chamblee has some good athletes on both sides of the ball so we will have to be ready,” Pilcher said. “The scrimmage should be a good tune  up for our regular season.

“We want to always be the most well conditioned team in the fourth quarter.”

Last season, Chamblee finished with a record of 4-6.
