Peter Mayfield joins BHS as new athletic trainer

Peter Mayfield

Peter Mayfield, a graduate of Florida State University, from Chipley, Fla., has been hired as Bainbridge High School athletic trainer.

He replaces Chris Summers, who has accepted an athletic training position in Tallahassee, Fla.

A 2001 graduate of Chipley (Fla.) High School, Mayfield graduated from Florida State University in 2006 with degrees in exercise science, sports management and athletic training.

From February 2007 to July 2008, Mayfield was a graduate assistant at West Texas A&M University in Canyon, Texas, near Amarillo.

He was a graduate assistant the University of Alabama-Birmingham, from the fall of 2008 to the spring of 2009.

Mayfield moved back to Chipley, where he managed a physical fitness and wellness center before coming to Bainbridge.

While a student at Chipley, he was a member of the track team’s 4-by-400-meter relay team and also participated in the 200-meter run.

During basketball season, he kept the scorebook for former Chipley Tigers and current Bainbridge Bearcats head basketball coach Rickey McCullough.

While a student trainer at Florida State, Mayfield worked with all sports programs except swimming and diving.
