Bainbridge High School Bearcats head basketball coach Rickey McCullough and his varsity and junior varsity players have been very busy at practice and team camps this summer.
The Bearcats participated in a May 31 team camp that also included Cairo, Thomasville and Seminole County.
Among those Bearcats playing well were 5-foot-11 senior guard Dontavious Marshall and 6-foot senior guard B.J. Cheatem.
The Bearcats varsity and junior varsity attended the Florida State University team camp June 8 through June 10. The varsity went 5-3 against some of the top teams in the Southeast.
The junior varsity went 6-2 at Florida State and made it to the Final 4 before losing to Westover.
The varsity attended the Cairo team camp and posted a 5-1 record, then went to the Chipola College team camp June 15 and June 16 in Marianna, Fla., and posted a 4-2 record. The varsity also posted a 2-0 record June 19 at the Cottondale, Fla., team camp.
McCullough expressed pleasure with the varsity and junior varsity players’ work ethic during summer play.
“The young men worked very hard in the summer preparing for a successful season in 2012-2013,” he said.
