Track teams perform well in Albany

The Bainbridge High School Bearcats and Lady Cats track teams turned in a number of strong individual and relay team performances last Saturday, at the annual Smith-Benson Relays, in Albany, Ga.
Bearcat Ryan Edwards was first in the 400-meter run, with a time of 50.96 seconds, and the Bearcats’ 4-by-400-meter relay team of Dontavious Jackson, Edwards, Alton Miller and Hubert Thomas were first, with a time of 3 minutes, 24.71 seconds. Edwards was third in the 200-meter run, with a time of 22.47.
Jackson sprinted home second in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 15.20, Terry Lewis took second in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.01 and the Bearcats 4-by-100-meter relay team of Justin Baker, Edwards, Quincy Fortson and Lewis took fifth with a time of 43.41.
Derek Allen was sixth in the 110-meter hurdles, with a time of 15.48, and Josh Sheard was sixth in the discus, with a throw of 131 feet, 4 inches.
Jackson was seventh in the 300-meter hurdles, with a time of 41.70, and Thomas was eighth in the triple jump with a leap of 39 feet, 4 inches.
The Lady Cats were led by Diamond Bouie, who was second in the high jump, with a leap of 5 feet, 2 inches; Tiffany Braswell, who was third in the 3,200-meter run, with a time of 13:33.89; and Amber Braswell, who was fourth in the 3,200- meter run in a time of 13:40.01.
The Lady Cats’ 4-by-400-meter relay team of Kadeejah Cooper, Jasmine Price, Raven Burney and Bouie were third, with a time of 4:06.96.
Kadeedra Sparrow was fourth in the shot put, with a heave of 32 feet, 10 inches, and Bouie was fourth in the 300-meter hurdles, with a time of 47.12.
The Lady Cats’ 4-by-400-meter relay team of Kadeejah Cooper, Tearnee Harvin, Bouie and Raven Burney finished third with a time of 4:06.96, and fifth in the 4-by-100-meter relay with a time of 50.84.
Burney was fifth in the long jump with a leap of 15 feet, 10 inches, and Porchia Green was fifth in the high jump with a leap of 4 feet, 8 inches.
Bouie and Green were sixth and seventh in the 100-meter hurdles, with times of 16.04 and 16.06.
Cooper was seventh in the 300-meter hurdles in a time of 47.99; and Amber Braswell and Tiffany Braswell were seventh and eighth in the 1,600-meter run, in times of 5:36.10 and 5:37.00.
Sparrow was seventh in the discus, with a throw of 81 feet, 1 inch.
