The Maclay High School Marauders from Tallahassee, Fla., scored a run in the top of the first inning and five more in the top of the third, on the way to a 10-0 Tuesday victory over the Bainbridge High School Bearcats.
The Bearcats entered Friday’s Region 1-AAAA road game against the Northside-Columbus High School Patriots with a 7-6 overall record and a 2-3 mark in Region 1-AAAA. That game was not completed by press time.
Tuesday, Bainbridge threatened in the bottom of the first inning when second baseman Brandon Bates was hit by a pitch with two outs and moved up to second when designated hitter Blake Voyles drew a walk.
The potential rally ended when third baseman Jackson Jones grounded out hard to third.
Four singles, a walk and an error produced the Marauders’ five third-inning runs.
The Bearcats threatened again in the bottom of the third. Centerfielder Tate Lambert walked with one away and moved around to third on a single by Bates, who stole second before both runners were stranded.
The Marauders put the game away with three runs in the top of the fifth. The runners got aboard on a pair of singles and an error.
