Albany State University’s April Thomas has received more honors for her outstanding performance on the basketball court during her first season with the Lady Rams. Thomas, the 5-foot-1 freshman standout guard, was recently named to the 2011-12 Daktronics Women’s Basketball All-South Region Second Team.

A Bainbridge High School graduate, Thomas was the SIAC’s second-leading scorer this season at 18.1 points per game. Named SIAC Freshman of the Year this season, she was among the league leaders with a .750 free throw percentage and a .353 three-point field goal percentage while averaging three three-point field goals made per game, which ranked second in the SIAC. She was the only freshman to receive Daktronics All-South Region honors this season. She received SIAC Newcomer-of-the-Week honors twice during the regular season for her outstanding performances on the court.
