The Bainbridge Middle School Bearcats baseball team swept a 4-3, 11-3 Saturday doubleheader over the Whigham Middle School Indians at the Bainbridge Middle School field.
Tyler Beaty was the winning pitcher in the opener and Matthew Greene was the winning pitcher in the nightcap.
Catcher Perry Waddell squeezed home Greene, who played second base in the opener, with the winning run in the bottom of the sixth inning in Game 1. Ty Varnum pitched a scoreless seventh to pick up the save.
The Bearcats banged out 10 hits in their Game 2 victory over the Indians.
“I really thought we played well today.” BMS coach Brian McCorkle said. “The guys came with a purpose and we got solid pitching and timely hitting in both games.”
