Coach Kelvin Cochran’s Bainbridge High School Lady Cats basketball team dropped a close 53-47 Region 1AAAA Tournament decision to the Warner Robins High School Demonettes Thursday at Northside Columbus High School.

Although they won’t get to host any games in the state basketball tournament, the Lady Cats’ season is still going, thanks to Monday’s win over Columbus’s Hardaway High School Lady Golden Hawks, which assured the Lady Cats could move on.

On Friday, the Lady Cats were to face off against the Lee County High School Lady Trojans to determine the region’s third and fourth seeds in the state tournament.

The Lady Cats’ first round game will be played next Friday, with time, opponent and place to be determined this weekend.

Ri’Chana Jackson and Briana Wade combined for 27 points to lead BHS over Warner Robins. Jackson led the way with 15 and Wade put in 12. Aleah Clark scored nine and Takeia Crankfield scored seven.

“We kept it close against Warner Robins and had our chances to win,” Coach Cochran said Friday morning. “Briana Wade, one of our best ball handlers, picked up three fouls in the first half and had to come out for a while. It always hurts when you lose one of your ball handlers.”
