The Bearcats came right back with a run in the bottom of the fourth, to go ahead 2-1.

Shortstop Matt Burke led off with a walk. He was forced out at second on a grounder by centerfielder Tate Lambert, who came around to score on a triple by second baseman Brandon Bates. Bates was thrown out attempting to score.

The Bearcats pushed across their final run in the bottom of the fifth.

Voyles reached on an error to open the inning and Ben Day came in as a courtesy runner for him. Third baseman Jackson Jones singled, moving Day around to third. Day came in to score when catcher Jake Goodson grounded out to the pitcher.

The Wildcats threatened in the top of the seventh, but a strong defensive play by Jones stalled the rally. With runners on first and second and no outs, Jones fielded a hard groundball to third, stepped on the bag for the first out, and fired to first base for the double play.
