The Bainbridge-Decatur County Humane Society’s annual Sam Howell Memorial Pars For Paws Golf Tournament will be Monday, February 20 at Bainbridge Country Club.

The tournament, which will begin with a 1 p.m. shotgun start, is named in memory of a late Decatur Countian who was an avid golfer and lifelong animal caretaker.

Through the years he provided shelter for dogs, cats, ponies and many other animals large and small.

He brought sick animals back to health if humanly possible, and eased the suffering of those that could not be helped.

The tournament will be a four person team scramble event with each team member hitting their second shot from the spot of the longest drive.

Registration is $50 per person, which includes a noon lunch. Registration deadline is Friday, February 17. Mulligan will be two for $5.

All teams will be assigned a total team handicap based on individual handicaps calculated using the United States Golf Association (USGA) handicapping formula. Prizes will be based on the number of teams.
