Bearcats down Lee County Trojans, 74-55

Forwards Paul Chukes, Trea Kelly and Rodney Glenn combined for 34 points Tuesday night in Leesburg, Ga., leading the Bainbridge High School Bearcats to a 74-45 Region 1-AAAA South Sub-Region victory over the Lee County High School Trojans.

Chukes and Kelly scored 12 points each, and Glenn put in 10.

The win improved the Bearcats’ overall record to 22-4. They completed their sub-region schedule with a record of 6-0. They completed their regular season Friday with a home game against the Randolph Clay High School Red Devils.

The Region 1-AAAA Tournament will be Tuesday, Feb. 14, through Saturday, Feb. 18, at Northside-Columbus High School.

The Bearcats will play the Warner Robins High School Demons, the No. 4 seed in Region 1-AAAA North, in the first round, on Feb. 14. The game time is yet to be determined.

Behind Chukes, Kelly and Glenn in the Bearcats’ scoring column Tuesday night were Tim Shaw with nine points, Dontavious Marshall with eight, Dillen Thomas with seven, Mike Jones with five, Greg Lee with four, Deion Thomas with three and Justin Baker and Mez Jones with two each.

Josh Carbrera was the scoring leader for the Trojans with 25 points. Monte Bush was also in double figures for the Trojans, with 11.

”I was very pleased with our effort against Lee County,” McCullough said Wednesday morning. “We got a chance to play everybody and they all played hard. We are looking forward to the Region 1-AAAA Tournament.”
