Lady Cats fall at Pelham, 44-43

The Pelham High School Lady Hornets edged the Bainbridge High School Lady Cats, 44-43, Tuesday in Pelham, Ga.
Briana Wade hit a three-point shot with just one second remaining to cut the final margin to one.
She and teammates Ri’Chana Jackson shared the Lady Cats’ high-point honors with 12 apiece. Jasmin Kelly put in nine and Takia Crankfield scored four.
Rounding out the Lady Cats’ scoring column Tuesday night were Alex Carter and Khadijah Cooper, with three points apiece.
Cochran said he liked the way his team hung in and kept coming back against the Lady Hornets.
“I was proud of the way we fought back from behind against Pelham on Tuesday night,” he said. ‘We have hustled and played hard on both ends of the court all season.”
The Lady Cats, who are 13-7 overall and 1-1 in Region 1-AAAA play, returned to action this weekend.
They traveled to Thomas County for a Friday region game against the Thomas County Central High School Lady Yellow Jackets.
Tonight they will host the Cairo High School Syrupmaids at 6 p.m. They will travel to Leesburg, Ga., for a 6 p.m. Tuesday region game against the Lee County High School Lady Trojans.
The Lady Cats’ regular season will conclude with a Friday, Feb. 10, “Senior Night” home game against the Randolph Clay High School Lady Red Devils at 6 p.m.
The Region 1-AAAA Tournament will be Tuesday, Feb. 14, through Saturday, Feb. 18, at Northside-Columbus High School.
