Coach Mike Jones’s Bainbridge High School Bearcats and Lady Cats swim team finished a strong second in a six-team field at the Wednesday, Jan. 11, Thomasville High School Bulldogs and Lady Bulldgs Invitational Meet at the Thomasville YMCA.

Thomasville placed first. Joining the Bearcats in the field were four Albany schools, Albany High, Dougherty High, Monroe High and Westover High.

Bearcat Alex Hughes finished second in the boys 100-meter breaststroke in a time of 1 minute, 26.82 seconds, and Lady Cat Lindsay Waddell finished second in the girls 100-meter breaststroke in a time of 1:44.31.

Taking third place in the boys 400-meter freestyle relay was the Bearcats team of Will Dozier, Tanner Jackson, Reid Willis and Blake Voyles. Their time was 5:39.42. Autumn Chestnut, Madison Hutchins, Maddie McIntosh and Ashten Oldaker were third in the girls 400-meter freestyle relay, with a time of 6:08.40.

Lady Cats Caroline New and Michael Jones were first and fourth in the girls 50-meter freestyle, in times of 40.67 and 42.20.

Capturing 10th place in the girls 50-meter freestyle was Madison Hughes, with a time of 49.53.

Bearcat Eric Conner swam home second in the boys 100-meter butterfly in a time of 1:23.98 and his teammate Jackson Jones won the boys 100-meter freestyle in a time of 1:07.18.

Jordan Graham and Noah Thorn were third in the girls 100-meter freestyle and the boys 400-meter freestyle, with times of 1:26.23 and 7:48.86.

Autumn Chestnut was third in the girls 400-meter freestyle in a time of 7:53.43 and Eric Conner, Hema Hosana, Alex Hughes and Jackson Jones won the the boys 200-meter freestyle relay, with a time of 1:56.75.

Taking fourth in the girls 200-meter freestyle relay, with a time of 2:13.38, was the Lady Cats team of Jordan Graham, Madison Hutchins, Michael Jones and Lindsay Waddell.

Jackson Jones was second in the boys 100-meter backstroke in a time of 1:25.25 and her Lady Cats teammate Sarah Bush was third in the 100-meter backstroke in a time of 1:43.29.
