Yahoo! Sports is reporting that Cairo High School Syrupmakers senior quarterback Steven Bench, the son of Steve and Glennie Bench of Bainbridge and a former Bainbridge High School Bearcats quarterback, has verbally committed to sign a national football letter of intent with the Penn State Nittany Lions.

Bench had previously verbally committed to the Rice Owls. National signing day is next Wednesday, Feb. 1.
