Bearcats win 2 games, improve to 10-4

The Bainbridge High School Bearcats basketball team won two games over the weekend to improve their record to 10-4.

On Saturday, coach Rickey McCullough’s team defeated Cairo, 66-43. On Monday, they traveled to Tallahassee, Fla., and defeated Tri-Cities of East Point, Ga., 75-61, at the Martin Luther King Day Invitational Tournament at Rickards High School.

Three Bearcats hit in double figures in their Saturday win over the Syrupmakers. Rodney Glenn led the way with 17 points, Trea Kelly added 15 and Greg Lee put in 14. Dillon Thomas scored six and Justin Baker scored three.

The Syrupmakers’ attack was paced by Trenton Madison, with a game-high 24 points, and Stacy Matsen with 14.

McCullough said he liked the way his reserves stepped up when Rodney Glenn and Trea Kelly got in foul trouble against Cairo.

The Bearcats put four players in double figures in their Monday win over Tri Cities. Glenn and Paul Chukes shared game-scoring honors with 19 apiece, Kelly added 14 and Dontavious Marshall put in 10.

Emanuel Ranny led Tri-Cities with 18 and Ivey Patterson put in 10.

The Bearcats returned to action Tuesday when they traveled to Cuthbert, Ga., to take on Randolph Clay. They will play Miller County on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. in Colquitt, Ga.
