Coach Brandon Ingram’s Bainbridge High School ninth-grade Bearcats basketball team edged the Cairo High School ninth-grade Syrupmakers 39-38 Monday in Cairo, to improve their season record to 6-0.

Trey Miller and Tyree Crump combined for 24 points to pace the victory. Miller led the way with 13 and Crump added 11.

The game was close throughout. The Bearcats led 14-7 after one quarter then outscored the homestanding Syrupmakers 7-6 in the second quarter, to walk off with a 21-13 halftime lead.

Rounding out the Bearcats’ scoring chart behind Miller and Crump on Monday were Tavarious Bowens with seven, Victor Bodison with four, and Devonte Cambell and Derrick Jones with two apiece.
