Grace Lady Cougars split games

Coach Mike Harrell’s Grace Christian Academy Lady Cougars basketball team split two recent games at Grace’s Perry Memorial Gymnasium.

On Friday, Dec. 2, they lost 47-35 to Camilla’s Westwood School Lady Wildcats.

On Tuesday, Dec. 6, they defeated Emmanuel Christian Academy’s Lady Warriors from Dothan, Ala., 56-40.

Emma Heard led the way against Westwood with 10 points on two three-point field goals and four free throws. Rachel Harrell added seven points on two field goals and a free throw.

Jocelyn Jacobs and Emilee Murr scored five points apiece and Christy Colvin and Perra Harrell put in four each.

Harrell took game scoring honors against Emmanuel with 24 points, on 12 field goals. Heard was also in double- figures with 10. She connected on four field goals and two free throws.

Rounding out the Lady Cougars’ scoring column against the Lady Warriors were Christy Colvin with six points, Perra Harrell with five, Shelby Woodrum with four, Jocelyn Jacobs with three, and Rheagan Henderson and Emilee Murr with two each.

The Lady Cougars returned to action Thursday, Dec. 15, when they took on the Asfhord Academy Lady Falcons in Ashford, Ala. They were scheduled to play the Southwest Georgia Academy Lady Warriors on Friday, Dec. 16, in Camilla.

One Monday, Dec. 19, and Tuesday, Dec. 20, the Lady Cougars will play in a holiday invitational tournament hosted by the Ashford Academy Lady Falcons in Ashford, Ala.

They will open tournament play with a noon Monday game against the Northside Methodist Academy Lady Knights from Dothan, Ala.

A second Monday first-round game will take place at 3 p.m. between the host Ashford Academy and the Randolph Southern School Lady Patriots from Shellman, Ga.

The winner of the two first-round games will play Tuesday at 6 p.m. for the tournament championship.

The consolation game for third and fourth place between the two first-round losing teams will be Tuesday at 3 p.m.
