Coach Mike Harrell’s Grace Christian Academy Lady Cougars opened their 2011-2012 baseketball season with a 48-37 Tuesday victory over the visiting Abbeville (Ala.) Christian Academy Lady Rebels at Grace’s Perry Memorial Gymnasium.
The Lady Cougars were led by Rachel Harrell with 21 points. Eighteen of her points came on six three-point field goals, and she was three-of-four from the free-throw line.
Emma Heard was also in double figures for the Lady Cougars with 14 points., She connected on four of 11 field goal attempts and was six-of-10 from the free-throw line.
Jocelyn Jacobs hit three field goals for six points.
Also contributing to the Lady Cougars’ victory were Perra Harrell with a field goal, two free throws and four points.
“Abbeville won 21 games last season and came here with the same team Tuesday night,” coach Harrell said. “It was a pretty sloppy game, but that was to be expected considering it was the first game for both teams. It was a good test for us.”
