The Bainbridge Middle School eighth-grade Lady Cats and Bearcats basketball teams swept a pair of games over the Lee County Middle School Lady Trojans and Trojans on Thursday in Leesburg, Ga.
Coach Latoya Ross’s Lady Cats won 35-30 and coach Heith Maxwell’s Bearcats won 53-44.
Forward Asia Gordon paced the Lady Cats’ scoring effort with 10 points. Wing Chelsea Elijan added nine and wing Riekia Hughes put in eight.
The Bearcats were led by forward Tyree Crump, with 25 points. Two of Crump’s points came on a slam dunk.
Alan Close was also in double figures for the Bearcats, with 20.
The eighth-grade Lady Cats and Bearcats are each 1-1 for the season.
They will return to action next Thursday, Nov. 17, when they travel to Thomas County to take on the Thomas County Central Middle School eighth-grade Lady Yellow Jackets and Yellow Jackets.
