Barracudas finish 8th in Moultrie

Coach Jamie Hahn’s Bainbridge-Decatur County YMCA Barracudas swim team finished eighth in Saturday’s Georgia Games Swim Meet in Moultrie.

The invitational meet featured 12 teams and over 200 swimmers. The Thomasville YMCA team won the meet.

“Saturday was the first meet for many of our swimmers and they performed extremely well,” coach Hahn said Monday.

Tara Stevens swam home second overall in the 11-and-12-year-old girls division and Peyton Dodson placed third overall in the 9-and-10-year-old boys division.

John Carpenter was seventh overall in the 9-and-10-year-old boys division.

Emily Sullivan placed eighth overall in the 9-and-10-year-old girls division. Thad Whitaker tied for 10th in the 9-and-10-year-old boys division.

In the 11-and-12-year-old boys division Sterling Womble was 11th overall and Christopher Carpenter was 12th overall,

Sarah Carpenter placed 13th overall and Andrea Zang placed 17th overall in the 15-to-18-year-old girls division.

This Saturday the Barracudas will travel to the Thomasville YMCA where they will compete in their second invitational meet of the season.

Following this Saturday’s Thomasville Meet, coach Hahn and his Extreme team will take a week off before traveling to Tifton to take part in the Saturday, July 9 Georgia Recreation and Parks Association (GRPA) District 3 Meet.

Bainbridge’s Inland Port Invitational Meet, which annually draws teams from Georgia, Florida and Alabama, has tentatively been scheduled for the first weekend in August.
