Former Bainbridge High School Bearcats and Cairo High School Syrupmakers coach Steve Bench has been hired by the Grady County Board of Education.

At Tuesday night’s board meeting in Cairo, Bench was hired by a 4-1 vote as a part-time physical education teacher at Southside Elementary School.

Bench will reportedly be joining coach Tom Fallaw’s Syrupmakers staff, coaching the offensive line and tight ends, and his son Steven, a rising senior and former Bearcats quarterback, will reportedly be playing for the Syrupmakers.
