Grace Christian Academy upper school principal, athletic director and Grace Cougars head basketball coach Steve Murr will hold a Cougars basketball camp for 6-to-12-year-olds July 18 through July 22 at the Bainbridge-Decatur County YMCA.
Camp sessions will be from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
Before coming to Grace prior to this past school year, Coach Murr was upper school principal and athletic director at Grace Christian School in Sanford, N.C. for three years.
He graduated from Beth Haven Academy in Louisville, Ky., where he was a three sport athlete, in 1992.
There, Murr played shooting guard on the basketball team, quarterback on the football team and pitched for the baseball team.
He went on to Tennessee Temple University where he earned his bachelors degree and played basketball. He also earned a masters degree in education administration from Liberty University.
YMCA CEO Ken Bailey says Coach Murr will draw on his experiences as a standout high school and college player and his years as a head basketball coach to teach the campers the game of basketball.
Camp registration fee is $20 for YMCA members and $50 for non-members. The registration deadline is July 15.
