Coach Amy Thomas’ Bainbridge High School girls tennis team advanced to the second round of the Georgia AAAA tennis tournament on Wednesday.

They did so defeating Union Grove of Henry County at the BHS courts on Wednesday. Union Grove was the No. 4 seed from Region 3, made up of teams from southern metro Atlanta.

Winning their matches to clinch the victory were singles players Anne Reynolds and Malori Maxwell, and doubles partners Meredith Conder and Kelly Brooks.

The region champion Lady Bearcats will host their second-round match in the state tournament next Tuesday, April 26, at 2 p.m. at the BHS tennis courts. Their opponent will be Glynn Academy from Brunswick.

The BHS boys tennis team lost in the first round of the boys’ Class AAAA tournament on Tuesday. They traveled to Peachtree, City, Ga., to play McIntosh High School, the No. 1 seed from Region 3.
