Bearcats drop three, go to 5-5

The Bainbridge High School Bearcats baseball team dropped a pair of games last Thursday and Friday and one on Tuesday, evening their season record at 5-5.
On Thursday, March 10, they lost 13-5 to the Marianna, Fla., High School Bulldogs in Marianna, and on Friday, March 11, they dropped a 6-1 Region 1AAAA game to the Warner Robins High School Demons in Warner Robins.
They traveled to Thomas County Tuesday and dropped a 9-4 Region 1AAAA decision to the Thomas County Central High School Yellow Jackets.
On Thursday, the Bulldogs scored five runs in the first inning to go up 5-0, but the Bearcats bounced right back with three in the top of the second to cut the lead to 5-3.
Catcher Drew Kelley opened the Bearcats’ second with a single, moved up to second on a single by right fielder Greg Lee and came in ahead of Lee on a base-clearing double by second baseman Sutton Reece.
Reece came in with the third run when left fielder Ryan Wade was safe on an error.
The Bearcats added single runs in the fourth and fifth innings.
Right fielder Lee led off the fourth with a single, moved to second on a fielder’s choice and came in on a fielder’s choice.
Third baseman Blake Voyles doubled and scored in the fifth.
The Bearcats scored their run in the sixth inning Friday against Warner Robins. Catcher Kelley led off with a single, moved to second on a passed ball, went to third on a fielder’s choice and came in on a sacrifice fly to right by first baseman Gunner Griffin.
The Bearcats started strong Tuesday, rallying for two runs in the top of the second to take a 2-0 lead.
Kelley led off the inning with a single and moved up to second when right fielder Lee drew a base on balls. The runners moved up to second and third on a fielder’s choice and came in on a two run single by second baseman Reece.
The Bearcats will host the Houston County High School Bears Friday in a Region 1AAAA game.
