Young Stevens is an outstanding swimmer

Tara Marie Stevens, only 12 years old and a sixth grade student at Hutto Middle School, has been turning in outstanding performances with the Area Tallahassee Aquatic Club (ATAC) swim team.
Stevens, daughter of Eddie and Teresa Stevens of Bainbridge, has qualified in six events for the Florida Age Group Championships, to be held later this month in Clearwater, Fla.
She has reached the 11-and-12-year-old Florida Swimming Short Course Junior Olympic Time Standards in all six events.
She qualified in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2 minutes, 13.59 seconds, and the 50-yard backstroke with a time of 32.90 seconds at the JAXPARKS Swim Classic, held January 14 through 16 in Jacksonville, Fla.
Stevens next qualified in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1 minute, 20.33 seconds and the 50-yard breaststroke with a time of 36.74 seconds at the Mac Crutchfield Invitational Meet, held January 28 through January 30 at Florida State University.
She qualified for her final two events, the 100-yard individual medley and the 100-yard backstroke held Saturday, February 5 at the ATAC Last Chance Development Meet in Tallahassee, Fla.
Her 100-yard individual medley qualifying time was 1 minute, 10.79 seconds and her 100-yard backstroke qualifying time was 1 minute, 10.54 seconds.
