April Thomas scored 22 second-half points, and finished with a game-high 34, to lead the Bainbridge High School Lady Cats to a 67-52 Region 1AAAA victory over the Lee County High School Lady Trojans.

Thomas was one of three Lady Cats in double figures on Saturday night in Leesburg. Briana Wade added 17 and Bria Harris put in 10 and pulled down 10 rebounds.

Thomas took control late. With her team leading just 47-42 with six minutes left in the game, she scored 11 unanswered points to put the game away.

Daqueena Moore led the way for the Lady Trojans with 15 points and 13 rebounds.

“Many of [Thomas]’ points came on layups, but she is also an outstanding shooter from outside the three point line,” Lady Cats Head Coach Latreisha Moon said. “When April is getting good looks at the basket, she is very difficult to stop.”

“With Bria and Briana all shooting well, we are really getting some balance in our scoring. Our defense has also been strong,” Moon added. “When you hold a team under 60 points, you know your defense is doing a good job.”
