BHS to host hoops shootout

The Bainbridge High School Bearcats and Lady Cats basketball teams will host the first Georgia-Florida, Basketball Shootout Monday and Tuesday, Dec. 20-21, at the Bainbtridge High School Gymnasium.

Admission to the Shootout is $7 a day. In addition to BHS, Georgia boys teams in the Shootout are the Class AAA Cairo High School Syrupmakers, the Class AA Early County High School Bobcats, and the Class A Miller County High School Pirates.

The Bearcat boys went 27-5 and made the State Class AAAA Final 4 for the second year in a row last season. Cairo is coming off a 16-8 season.

Florida boys teams in the field are the AA Blounstown High School Tigers, who went 20-8 last season, the AA Graceville High School Tigers, who went 19-9 and were district champions last season, the Malone High School Tigers, and the AAAAA Niceville High School Eagles, who were 27-4 and made the Final 4 last season.

The Early County High School Lady Bobcats join the BHS Lady Cats in the sole girls’ matchup. They will play each other Monday at 6 p.m. The Lady Cats are looking to have another season like last year, when they went 27-6.

Monday’s boys schedule will feature Miller County against Blounstown at 3 p.m., Early County against Malone at 4:30 p.m., Cairo against Niceville at 7 p.m. and BHS against Graceville at 9 p.m.

Tuesday’s boys schedule will feature Early County against Blounstown at 4 p.m., Miller County against Graceville at 5:30 p.m, Cairo against Malone at 7 p.m. and BHS against Niceville at 8:30 p.m.
