Audrey Runnels of Bainbridge, Ga., was recently selected as a member of the 2010-2011 Dance Dawg Team at the University of Georgia. Runnels is a 2010 honor graduate of Bainbridge High and is the 18-year-old daughter of Keith and Tamara Buckhaulter, and John Runnels of Bainbridge. She was a member of the Danceline during her four years at BHS and an assistant teacher at Lucretia’s School of Dance. Runnels has been dancing for the past 13 years. Her plans are to obtain a degree in Exercise and Sports Science and pursue a career in the medical field. After arriving at UGA in August, Runnels participated in the two-day tryouts that consisted of learning a 60-second dance, a band dance, the UGA fight song, a “filler” dance and a “down on the floor” combination. After learning the material on the first day of the tryouts, the second day consisted of performing in front of a panel of judges. Another vital part of the tryout process was a personal interview. There were approximately 50 girls during tryouts with only 15 selected for the team.
