Students at John Johnson Elementary School drew patriotic pictures for the upcoming Veterans Day celebration downtown. There is a note from the child on the back of each picture that states “Dear American Soldier, Thank you for fighting to keep our county safe”  Your Friend,” which the child signed along with their grade level and the school’s address. After the celebration, the pictures are to be sent to the soldiers stationed overseas. Approximately 12 drawings from each grade were first selected based on artistic merit with the winners for each grade selected as the one that showed the most patriotism. Color copies of the winners are displayed in the school’s art gallery by the lunchroom.
