Cross country teams have strong efforts

Coach Mandi O’Mara’s Bainbridge High School Bearcats and Lady Cats cross country teams turned in strong efforts last Saturday at the Region 1AAAA Meet in Warner Robins.

The Bearcats were third and the Lady Cats were fourth in eight team fields.

The Houston County High School Bears won the boys championship and the Warner Robins High School Lady Demons won the girls championship.

Finishing second in the boys competition were the Warner Robins High School Demons. The Lee County High School Lady Trojans were second in the girls division and the Northside Columbus High School Lady Patriots were second in the girls competition.

The top Bearcats finisher at the Region 1AAAA Meet was Joseph Ausgood who was fourth overall, completing the 5000 meter 3.1 mile course in a time of 18:05.6

The top Lady Cats finisher was Paige Braswell who was third overall in a time of 21:53.44.

Other Bearcats finishing strong at the Region 1AAAA Meet included Cole Farrington, who was ninth in a time of 18:19.84, Davey Reynolds, who was 13th overall in a time of 18;40.78, and Anthony Hall, who was 24th in a time of 19:29.47.

Also turning in strong efforts were Austin Hand, who was 33rd in a time of 20:20.12, Antonio Anderson, who was 35th in a time of 20:33.37, and LaDarius Moore, who was 40th in a time of 20:58.15,

Other Lady Cats finishing strong at the Region 1AAAA Meet included Capria Miller, Amber Braswell and Caitlin Cato who were 18th, 19th and 20th in times of 23:36.38, 23:46.41 and 23:48.34.

Also turning in strong efforts were Sarah Carpenter, who was 25th in a time of 24:38.18, Ashten Oldaker, who was 35th in a time of 25:24.31 and Brittany Williams, who was 41st in a time of 26:25,38
