Lewis leads JV ‘Cats to victory

Running back and linebacker Terry Lewis scored three touchdowns to lead the Bainbridge High School junior varsity Bearcats to a 32-14 road victory over the Cairo High School JV Syrupmakers.
The game, played at Cairo’s West Thomas Stadium, was originally scheduled for Thursday but was moved back to Monday.
Two of Lewis’ touchdowns came on offense while one other came playing defense.
The Bearcats jumped out to a 22-8 halftime advantage. Quarterback Cameron McDowell ran five yards for a touchdown in the first quarter, while Lewis broke touchdown runs of 40 and 25 yards in the second quarter.
In the third quarter, Lewis, who also plays linebacker, picked up a Syrupmakers fumble and returned it 35 yards for a touchdown.
Brandon Callaway ran 16 yards for the Bearcats’ final touchdown in the fourth quarter.
Larry Cosby, the Bearcats’ varsity receivers coach, said he and the other Bearcats varsity coaches are pleased with the progress the JV team has made this year.
“The young men who have played in JV games this year have worked hard every day in practice,”Cosby said.
